Deadmau5 & Liberty
Thursday January 16th was a day where polar opposite events happened. It started per usual with work at PBI (the insurance agency). I had plans that night to see Deadmau5, a trance/house artist at The House of Blues (HOB) in Boston, MA. Going out to a concert on a Thursday with work the next morning might be a little atypical however things got more interesting when I managed to schedule a meeting at Liberty Mutual headquarters in Boston just hours before the concert.
I'm working on a project, something I hope will revolutionize the insurance industry. Unfortunately I wont be sharing too much about this until its completion in the coming months as it is pretty technical and potentially top secret. Nevertheless, I went to meet with an acquaintance to talk about the project who offered to give myself and my friend Matt a tour of Liberty HQ. Matt drove up with me to Boston for Deadmau5. Liberty HQ was cool, very big and corporate. One of the posted images is Matt and I standing in the middle of a bridge suspended between two of the Liberty buildings over a road in down-town Boston. Another is of us in front of a map in the lobby. The meeting went well and reassured me of the impact my project will one day hopefully have. We wrapped up, took a few cool pictures and were on our way.
The Uber ride from Liberty HQ to HOB was short, maybe 5 minutes. We're still a little early to head in though so we stopped at a restaurant adjacent to the concert hall and grabbed some burgers. Matt being vegan went for the impossible burger. For those unfamiliar, this is a burger that looks and tastes like a real burger but has no meat (yes, this is weird). The waitress was a doll and took our joke about bringing a lot of dipping sauce seriously by literally bringing a plate full of dipping sauces to us for our food! A neat perk the restaurant gives you is priority access to skip the line at HOB, not that we needed it. It was a Thursday after all.
The concert was amazing to say the least. The artist has spent an incredible amount of time putting together this amazing act. I highly recommend a quick detour if you don't know much about it, link here.
Im currently listening to Deadmau5. Elliott is no where to be found.
Cheers - Peter B.
