Welcome

The age of information is a wonderful thing. Although it has its flaws, it will be what helps to encapsulate my year of 2020. I believe this is a good opening because it expresses my love for technology which I'm sure will be recorded here throughout 2020 a lot. I studied in the digital animation and visual effects industry, worked at a VFX studio, Disney, Universal, and now as an insurance agent. Diversity has opened my mind and this year I want to push that even further by switching gears and living life more.

This post is a little late, mostly because I had the idea to track my 2020 progress and share it with friends and family very recently. That being said, I plan to post at least once a week (probably on the weekend). If interesting things happen along the way I'll try to squeeze them in!

So, the blog then. Whats here, why follow? My brother Haakon (pronounced hawk•on) lives the most interesting life I could ever imagine and he is my inspiration for this year. Free spirited. Social. Spontaneous.

I'd like to include some random in-the-moment facts about thoughts I have as I write. Now, our 18 year old family cat Elliot (girl) is sitting with me as I write. She is pure love and bliss at its finest (despite the occasional nip). Current song, Someday by Nickelback. Probably a joke to most, but whatever it's easy writing music. If you're into rock; next in queue is Apologize by Five Finger Death Punch.

Time to catch up! I've already done some cool things, they'll be out in a few.

Did I mention I like hockey? #beanpot NU College Hockey, digital photograph, < https://news.northeastern.edu/2020/02/10/northeastern-men-win-third-straight-beanpot-in-5-4-double-overtime-victory-over-boston-university/ > BEANPOT ! The first round of the tournament (02/03/20) saw Northeastern defeat Harvard 3–1 and Boston University defeat Boston College 5–4 in double overtime. Round 2 (02/10/20):  Northeastern Huskies vs. Boston University.  The game was nerve racking. Within the first few minutes of the first period BU scored. The stadium seemed so quiet for 15,000 people even with the BU band and school cheering. You could sense the feeling of lost hope in the NU section. So somber. Shortly after BU scored again. Catching Up

I didn't post last week. I wanted to but was preoccupied with other things and couldn't quite gather the motivation or focus to write. I'll play a little catchup and bring us up to speed. Last week was the first of 2 Beanpot nights. The Beanpot for those who are unfamiliar is a college tournament between four college hockey teams here in Boston. There are two games with the winners face each other the next week. Lucky for us the team we are rooting for (Northeastern i.e. NU) won their first game so they've moved on and will be playing for the Beanpot (trophy) tomorrow night. I've never really been into other sports but c ollege hockey is something special.  The school band is at every game and always plays great music. Some fan/student favorites are Every-time We Touch (Cascada), I'll Make A Man Out Of You (Mulan Soundtrack, and of course Stacy's Mom (Fountains of Wayne) among others. Deadmau5 & Liberty

Thursday January 16th was a day where polar opposite events happened. It started per usual with work at PBI (the insurance agency). I had plans that night to see Deadmau5, a trance/house artist at The House of Blues (HOB) in Boston, MA. Going out to a concert on a Thursday with work the next morning might be a little atypical however things got more interesting when I managed to schedule a meeting at Liberty Mutual headquarters in Boston just hours before the concert.  I'm working on a project, something I hope will revolutionize the insurance industry. Unfortunately I wont be sharing too much about this until its completion in the coming months as it is pretty technical and potentially top secret. Nevertheless, I went to meet with an acquaintance to talk about the project who offered to give myself and my friend Matt a tour of Liberty HQ. Matt drove up with me to Boston for Deadmau5.
